A great book July 1, 2004 Reginald Harper (Isle of Wight) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A fascinating of overview of the history of football. Richly illustrated and an enjoyable text, all endorsed by the world governing body, FIFA. I particularly liked the chapter on national styles of play. England get some what of hard time, but in fairness, following our recent Euro 2004 exit, the author's comments are spot on. A great book.
The perfect present for football fans the world over. July 1, 2004 Tony Diamond (Tony Diamond, Chelmsford) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Highly recommended July 1, 2004 Karl Matheson (Manchester, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading 100 YEARS OF FOOTBALL and I would recommend the book to anyone wishing to learn more about the origins and history of the sport. The authors' fascinating text and glorious illustrations combine to make this one of the most complete histories of the game. Highly recommended
The publisher should be ashamed June 15, 2004 R. F. Kift (Castrop-Rauxel) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Weidenfeld and Nicolson is supposed to be a major publisher in the UK. How is it then that they could have produced this book so carelessly? They have not only misspelt the name of one of the authors wrongly on the dust cover- the man is called Lanfranchi and not Lanfanchi- Amazon please change! - but have managed to affix an insert of players' portraits upside down in the middle. That said the authors know their stuff and there is some interesting material in the book. But one can only hope those responsible for such shoddy work get their just rewards.
