A unique talent, confirmed as the best. February 8, 2004 Mr. Samuel B. R. Monson 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had long been a fan of Barry Sanders. For as long as i've loved American Football, seeing Barry Sanders run the ball was something that brought genuine joy. Reading this book, and seeing the bonus DVD confirmed and emphasised just how good he really was. Having read the book and the statistics there really shouldn't be any argument. He abruptly retired a full 5 seasons shorter than Emmit Smith will have played by the time he hangs up his boots, a mere 1400 yards short of the all time rushing record, whilst averaging just under 1500 yards a season for his entire career. The stats speak for themselves, and when you consider than he WAS the Lions offense for many seasons its even more obvious. Hes probably the most talented player to ever play the game. The book goes further though, it answers some of the questions asked about Barry: why did he retire, why didn't he go for the record, and will he ever return? The answer is simply this. He did it all because it was what he felt was right, he did it all his way, and that is what makes Barry Sanders the man great. He did things in his own unique style.
Great Book January 14, 2004 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book is fantastic, anyone who knows anything about Barry Sanders will know he was one of the greatest (In my opinion THE Greatest) RB's of all-time. This is a good read for anybody even if you don't know who he is or anything about the game.
