A rich distillation of the Yosemite story January 26, 2001

What elevates this book to the realms of those that will be kept to enjoy again is the quality of the writing. At first it looks like a poorly aimed art book with heavy paper and black and white photos. Forget the appearance and read it. The foreword and afterword, which were published as an article in Outside magazine form one of the finest pieces on the climbing experience I've read. And the other chapters maintain the standard. However don't be tempted by 'Looking for Mo'. Duane's fiction writing is nowhere near as good as his non-fiction.
