If your a golfer get this book December 4, 2007 M. B. Harrison This is one of if not the best books on golf I have ever read. It's not your usual technical stuff, just about how to be in the right frame of mind. Told in well written amusing style. Do get it it's a gem, I am hitting the ball with greater confidence than ever.
Great Book! October 30, 2007 Juan Prietobaez (Nottingham, UK) I am new to golf and all I can say is that this book is great. It teaches you the natural aspects of the golf swing and how they fit together in the game of golf. Balance, swinging within your on capacity and rhythm lead to greater consistency..... Distance? It only comes with good impact no matter how hard you swing.... I highly recommend this book.. Its enjoyable and includes many fun insights which are easy to relate to...
Great Read, Great Philosophy February 1, 2001 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a super little book. I'd recommend reading it together with two others: Tim Gallwey's "The Inner Game of Golf" and Fred Shoemaker's "Extraordinary Golf".Quantum Golf tells a story of a typical golfer who takes a series of lessons from a teacher who has a fundamentally different approach to golf teaching. Instead of the usual method of teaching the intricacies of mechanical swing technique first and tacking the mental aspects on as an afterthought, he turns it on its head and puts the psychology first. The book acknowledges that setup fundamentals and swing mechanics are important to know about, but sells the thesis that in order to make your swing mechanics work in practice, you need to start by focusing on rhythm and flow instead of specific movements and positions. Just a warning though. The book is fairly heavy on analogy and metaphor, drawing from physics and mysticism. This could make it seem a bit "hand waving" and abstract to some readers, but don't let that put you off. In fact the philosophy emerging from it is extremely practical. I have studied a lot of books on swing mechanics, which has been interesting but of no help in actual execution of the swing. Since getting into the more psychological mind-set, I've improved my scoring from struggling to break 90 to threatening 80 in a matter of weeks (compared to the months and years spent becoming a swing-mechanics anorak and getting nowhere).
For those golfers who don't know what to think March 16, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have always had problems thinking the right way on the course. If you give this a try ( you might feel like a fool) you will play better. After I read to book and brought it in to practice my scores have become steady between 70-76. Jan Feenstra HCP2
Outstanding! July 2, 1998 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A fantastic story with real world application. The author, through his wonderful story, provides the reader with a "what could be" in their golf game. A quick read, I couldn't put it down once I started. A great gift for the serious, intellectual golfer!
