Simply is as simply does. May 7, 2007 Jonathan (Manchester, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have spent over twenty years searching for a simple repeatable golf swing. In order to acquire the simple repeatable golf swing, I spent (what I consider to be) a lot of money on instructional books, golf videos and occasional lessons with PGA trained pros. Having read this book, I now know that I that I was not responsible for my frustrating journey - the so-called experts were. Don't repeat my wasted years - buy this book, read it, follow the instructions and throw all other golf swing instruction books into the bin.
Unlocking the door to the holy grail... September 6, 2005 neil (london, United Kingdom) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Having taken up the sport fairly recently with mixed success (playing off 24 after just under a year) this book was my first introduction to the teachings of Steve Gould and Dave Wilkinson. It laid out in a very clear manner the correct way to build a golf swing to achieve what we are all basically trying to get....a good clean strike that propels the ball straight to it's target consistently! Not only does the book instruct on the various stages of the swing to achieve this but it also clearly shows what not to do and common mistakes. The simplicity of the instruction and the fact that many of the drills can be done away from the golf course or range only adds to it's appeal.Having made good progress just form the book the obvious next step was to visit the Knightsbridge Golf School and build on what I had read in the book. What a revelation! Within two months my handicap was down to 20 and after 6 months down to 16. The beauty of the book is that it can constantly be referred to in order to make sure that you are maintaining what is being taught. To conclude, the book is ideal for all standards from the absolute novice (before they pick up any bad habits!) to players playing to scratch and will significantly improve anyone's game if the steps are followed accurately.
AT LAST AN END TO TRAIL AND ERROR GOLF INSTRUCTION August 17, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Playing off +1, i thought i would never have imagined giving up this wonderful game of golf, however, 6 months ago i was seriously considering it. I had stopped enjoying the game and found it very frustrating as i had been the guinea pig to many of these so called teaching gurus. Thats when i discovered "the swing factory" and after reading it, i felt as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders as the instruction was very simple and precise. So i quickly booked a lesson and went to see Dave and Steve at the golf school in Knightsbridge. After that first lesson i knew that these guys would look after me and that this method was in fact the true way of swing a golf club. We are now 6 months down the line and they have totally transformed my game and rekindled my dream of becoming a tour pro once again. Although i go in for lessons on a regular basis, the book is a constant source of reference for me and anyone who loves this game and wants to improve should not be without it! This book, put quite simply, is an essential part of any golfer's collection.
Good but expensive July 20, 2005 Quizling (London) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Although the advice in this book is simple and effective it could be conveyed in a 20 page pamphlet just as well. Even at a discounted price of 15.00 this book is ridiculously expensive and stretches a handful of pages of useful guidance with vast quantities of padding.
A good read July 15, 2005 W. Terry (uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A very nice book, well presented, clear illustrations and well worded prose. The drills are excellent but could be made a little clearer through additional diagrams and explanations. This book has had a massive impact in my game, and the explanation about the swing starting from the top was a real gem - an excellent swing thought that I use on every swing. An excellent book and I would recommened this to any one from pro golfer to average joker.
