The definitive introduction to 20th century psychology September 1, 2006 Jerry Dixon (Wicklow, Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of the founders of the APA, Miller writes in a elequant style forgotten by most authors. His reports into the lives of of the founding fathers of psychology really helps the student understand the circumstances behind the theories that so influence modern psychology. The text is a great source of quotation's e.g. 'behavioural magicians who pull habits out of rats' which I still use today as a lecturer, and would encourage anyone considering studying psychology to read this book first. Some books educate, this book inspires.

This book offers a general introduction to some of the interesting theories and people behind this developing disipline. Particularily suitable for people embarking on a course in psychology, it introduces many of the concepts at an easy to understand level before expanding them. This book is recomended as a preparation text for the Open Universities Introduction To Psychology course, so they must know...
