really a collector's item only July 3, 2006 T. Mcveigh (London United Kingdom) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is a cute little book but if you have read "Further Under the Duvet" (or as it's called in the States "Cracks in My Foundation") you've already read these observational anecdotes. The essays are "Passport Out of Here" "Cheaper than Drugs" "Stack n Fly" "36 Hours in Jo'Burg" "Being Sent to Siberia" "I Shop Therefore I Am" "Villa-itis" and "Eyes Wide Shut".
What a great little read! September 7, 2005 35 out of 37 found this review helpful
If you love a quick fix of reading, this is the book for you. It's not Marian Keyes' usual Chicklit fare - this is a collection of hilarious monologues about embarrassing and notable moments in her life.Cringeworthy at times, each tale made me laugh out loud. Even my husband, allergic to most female writers, chortled at some of the author's descriptions. If you have an hour to spare, buy this little gem.
Short but sweet July 7, 2005 F. V. J. Platt (UK) 54 out of 56 found this review helpful
I have to admit that I had a little bit of a buying spree on these pocket penguins, and with a an impatient husband waiting, I chose almost at random.I am a Marian Keyes fan, but when I realised that this wasn't fiction but one of her collections of writing about her life, I wasn't sure that I wold enjoy it. No worries - it's as funny as her fiction, giving a quick insight into where the ideas and characters for her books come from. Small enough to carry in a bag or read in the bath, but satisfying enough to not leave you feel short changed. If you've never read any of her books before this is also an excellent introduction
