Poor Jamie September 12, 2008 Rachael Farrell 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was given this book by a friend as she told me it was fantastic, granted it did make me laugh out loud and I never actually thought I would ever feel sorry for Jamie oliver but that guy is a saint putting up with a fruit loop like his wife! Not everyone has the money to buy doppler machines, multiple buggies and have private health care ringing your consultant every 10 seconds asking the most obvious and ridiculous questions. most of us make do with the NHS. If anything this book made me feel more normal, buy it if you want a laugh but i would take her advice with a bag of salt rather than a pinch!
Great Book August 11, 2008 Mum of 2 (UK) I really loved this book. I have since bought it for all my friends that have become pregnant and they too have read it avidly. It is a heartwarming book that gives an honest description of the ups and downs of pregnancy. I would reccomend it to any pregnant woman!!!
Minus Nine to One gets ten out of ten...eventually! June 18, 2008 a reader (UK) I first read this book whilst in my first trimester and absolutley hated it. I dismissed it as 'celebrity fluff' and banished it back to the bookcase. Thank you raging pregnancy hormones. However... I am now in my third trimester and, after a very pleasurable re-read, I now see that this book is an absolute joy. With lots of lovely bits and bobs, from the photos to the text and the (yummy) recipes, there is a lot to keep you going. Informative, touching and very, very funny. Ten out of ten, thanks Jools!
A very dumbed down version of what I was hoping for May 6, 2008 Mrs. T. Driver (Dartford) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this book on the strength of the recommendations you can see here on Amazon. Warning though - I guess everyone else was looking for something a little more low brow than I was. I was *hoping* for a book that was an emotional and real account of a woman's first pregnancy, with in depth feelings and thoughts. It's actually more like a teenagers diary, and if the tone doesn't get you the ridiculous amounts of CAPITALS and !!!!'s will. I'm sure it's a "nice" read if you're just wanting to burn a few hours in an airport and you're not too fussed about detail, but if you're after something with a bit of substance this isn't it. Sadly, I haven't found one that is yet either! If you can recommend one please do - thayer 18 AT yahoo dot com.
Fantastic read! May 3, 2008 A. Steele (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The postie delivered this at 7.30am, I then went back to bed and didn't get up until I had read the whole book cover to cover. A fantastic and inspiring read, I'm just sorry I've finished it really!
