My Mum and I have been cooking from this book in its various editions for as long as I can remember and therefore I have been eating these cakes all my life. They are still fantastic!. The recipes are exact, and if you follow them carefully you will not go wrong. Whether you are a novice baker or an exprienced cook this is the one cake book you cannot do without.DO try:- Black Forest cake (which is flour free), wholewheat gingerbread, honey and spice cake, homemade digestive biscuits.

Anyone can bake cakes December 26, 2000 76 out of 78 found this review helpful
This is not a conventional cookery book, and as Delia explains, she felt the need to write this book because she had to fetch through all her other cookery books to find some good cakes. The introduction is perfect for people who are not so much aquainted with baking cakes. It gives a clear description of the major does and don'ts when it comes to cakes. Baking times, oven tactics and the conventional weight and measures. If anyone is not so confident with baking cakes....then this is a TO HAVE book. And for the people who love baking then, it is a must. It includes a variety of recipies including the very famous English sponges. Brilliant book as we always get from Delia and another great book to my personal collection. Well done Delia and keep it up !
