Intense August 28, 2008 Miss Jessica (West Midlands,England) my favourite book of all time an intense love story between a young boy and girl who have grew up together that keeps you guessing until the end then the guessing gives way to a climax of tears, amazing fully recommend!

Chris and Emily have been good friends since they were born. Their parents have always been friends, and they were destined to become a couple once they entered their teenage years. They are always together and are seemingly very in love. Until Emily ends up dead, and Chris was the only other person there when she died. What happens? Will the kids that always seemed so happy rip these families apart? Did Chris really kill Emily? What really happened the night of her death? Too much cannot be said without giving away the ending of the story. This is another book from Jodi Picoult that makes you think. There are a few predicable scenes, but still enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested. A good read for someone who is curious about how lives that seem so perfect can change so fast. Truly Amazing May 16, 2008 Jennifer Kate (Dorset, England) I had never read one of Picoult's books before I decided to read 'The Pact' and therefore had no high expectations. However, after the first chapter, I couldn't put the book down. I love the way the chapters go from 'Then' to 'Now', allowing you to test your own conscience to whether you believed that the character of Chris really would have killed his one true love, Emily. Right up until the epilogue, I had no idea how this book would finish, and let me assure you, it has its surprises. Picoult makes you feel like you know the characters, and throughout the book you experience their different emotions as if you were there yourself. I personally feel sorry for my parents, of whom I had ranted and raved about how good 'The Pact' is. 'The Pact' isn't just about the suicide pact between Chris and Emily however, yet it describes the others involved and how such an event can show that families who once thought their life was 'perfect', was only fake and superficial, and how parents like to think they know their children inside out, yet the truth is sometimes quite the opposite. I really enjoyed reading this book and to those of you deciding whether or not to buy it, it would be a certain loss if you chose not to read it.
Great but beware of the DVD April 6, 2008 K.Smith i thought this book was brilliant. ive read many of her novels and as with others i couldnt put it down! i loved it so much that when i found out that there was a dvd adaptation i tracked it down and got it as soon as i could. sadly, the dvd was nothing compared to the book. the scences and characters are nothing like you imagine them to be like when reading the book. i would recommend not buying the dvd if youre tempted to.
One of the best books i've read March 25, 2008 Ms. Lindsay Loudon (Scotland) The plot was very engaging and i love the way that she shifts from 'then' to 'now' and back again. There were so many times where I wanted to find out the outcome of a 'then' or 'now' chapter but had to wait to finish the next chapter first! I found myself really caring about the characters. A book that is so hard to put down.
