Wonderful, wonderful read. Unusual storyline and plot. Beautifully written. I have read all of her books and can't wait for her next publication. What a talented writer.
Out of this World November 1, 2007 kehs (Hertfordshire, England) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Ross is a ghost hunter, searching for a way to be re-united with his dead fiancée again. His numerous suicide attempts have all failed so ghost hunting is his last avenue to try. He moves to live with his sister, who has a child with a life threatening illness. Things take a twist when he becomes involved with the Abenaki Indians who are trying to prevent building taking place on what they claim is their burial ground. He meets Lia who is somehow mysteriously linked to the past. Then rose petals start falling from the sky, the ground freezes over out of season, pennies appear from thin air and a little girl sees ghosts. This is an out of this world story that will have you spellbound.
Needed Perseverance to get into this novel October 13, 2007 Jeanette Levin (N. London, U.K.) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like "LAS" review, I was immediately disappointed. This is the 2nd Picoult book I have read, only recently finding this author. The introduction of too many characters and situations is most disconcerting. However, I persevered and have passed the halfway mark. It was the first quarter of the book that nearly made me give up. The second quarter is rivetting and I could not put the book down. I shall update this review, I hope, when I have finished.
Fantastic! September 29, 2007 Mrs. J. E. Davies (Cheshire, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was the first book I have read by this author and it was absolutly fantastic. The characters were gutsy and believable, the storyline was involved but full of twists and turns and the subject matter was unusual.I really couldn't put it own and it was the best book I have read for ages.Inspired me to read some more by this author.
Immediately disappointing!! September 26, 2007 L. Scarpati (Yorkshire, England) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I can't believe I'm writing this as a die-hard Picoult fan but..... I snapped up this book with the usual enthusiasm, I couldn't wait to get it home and shut myself away for a few hours and discover the joys of a new Picoult novel. At the minute I'm still on page 56 and I'm going to start it again from the beginning for the second time!!! Immediately, Picoult throws you into meeting the characters, alternating characters every few pages. It is characteristic of Picoult's style by doing so, however I feel that she's thrown too many characters into the mix too soon and by page 56 you're introduced to about half a dozen different people,( both important and secondary characters) without having chance to digest them all and move on. I'm determined to persevere and complete this book; the theme is definitely one I'd enjoy in any event and I hope this doesn't put me off any of her other novels in the future. I'd love to be able to finish it and come back and edit this review, apologising profusely and singing its praises......watch this space.
