What a fantastic book! The original 'Under the Duvet' was the first book of Marian's that I ever read and it started my passion for reading her books. This one is exactly like Under the Duvet but has a little more 'umph' to it, not only does it have Marians hilarious stories based on her own observations but a lovely bit at the back with some short stories, which are all brilliant. Of the whole book I particulary enjoyed the story called 'Faking it' which was Marian's experiences of 'Self Tanning' - very very funny!! When I finished reading this book I had a strange urge to re-read the whole thing, just so I could enjoy it all over again!!
Great book , buy it now! September 23, 2005 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is another book which, as the title suggests, follows on from "Under the Duvet" - a collection of articles and true stories.I loved the first "Under the Duvet" and this is equally as good. It's great for dipping into, as each story is only a few pages long. And it's tremendously entertaining and funny to read. I also found a lot of experiences I could relate to (only too well!), which just adds to it's charm. If you've read any of the novels by the same author, there are references to some of the books and you may recognise where some ideas may have come from. The only downside is if you've read "Nothing bad ever happens at Tiffanys" or any of Marians columns in magazines you may have already read some of the articles (I recognised a few from Marie Claire). But this is only a small part of the book, and there is a lot of new material which still makes it a good buy. Overall it's a great book, well worth the money. And you'll especially love it if you like shoes, sweets, fancy cosmetics ....
