Great story but....... April 4, 2008 Surrey reader 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As always Jodi writes about a provocative moral subject; a murderer with a heart he wants to donate to the daughter of the woman whose husband and child he killed. The principle was great but (for me) the story got too bogged down in religious debate and explanations which detracted from the characters and the story line. I love to read books over and over again but won't be keeping this one I'm afraid. Sorry Jodi!
Enjoyable read April 4, 2008 S. Martin Jodi is back! After a few misses this is a hit. An enjoyable read and a fascinating topic that keeps the reader gripped to the end.
Jodi back to her gold standard March 24, 2008 J. Leonard (Merseyside England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Picked this book up in the airport and couldn't stop reading it. After a few misses eg Tenth circle Jodi is back to her best with this book told from the viewpoints of different characters. Although I worked out early on what had happened, the story is told in such a way that you want to keep reading to find out if you were right. The characters are believeable and the story told at a good pace. Really enjoyed this- don't want to spoil it by telling you what happens - read it!
Deju Vu Ms Picoult? March 21, 2008 Charles Tryon (BATH, AVON United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an interesting and provocative subject to cover, and I started this book excited and intrigued. The characters were interesting as was the perspective the story was told from. However I could not help but think I had read this before, and lo and behold characters from Ms Picoult's novel Keeping Faith turned up. Suddenly my reading pleasure dropped as the similarities were too common. When I finished the book I felt somewhat cheated and disappointed in the book, which is a shame as I have loved every other book the author has written. My advice is to read Keeping Faith first.
