5 out of 5 stars A Good Read   April 25, 2008

This book is a great read with a story line that doesnt stand still from the start to the finish. The author cleverly uses technology from todays world to describe an alien world that humans inhabit. The story and the characters are well written and dont suffer from the overbearing discription often found in other young peoples books. This allows the reader to imagine the wonders and horrors without undue fuss and commentary. For me this is how a good book should be, grabbing you from the start and proppelling you head long to a dramatic conclusion....or is it? Cant wait for the next for what comes next.

5 out of 5 stars Imaginative and gripping   April 18, 2008

This is a children's book by a new author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is the story of a planet inhabited by two levels of society and in the grip of an ice age. The title is a nice pun that I won't spoil. I thought the book was original and wonderfully imaginative. It moved along at a good pace and I found myself reading more quickly as I got near the end to find out what happened. Not everything is resolved at the end and there is clearly going to be at least one more sequel.
