An Hour of "Just a Minute" is too Short February 25, 2003 George McAdams (Alabama, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
As a fan of "Just a Minute," who until recently only got to listen to the show via shortwave, I had heard that one would soon be able to buy tapes of the show. This audio package contains four shows, two that featuring the late Peter Jones, who in his classic befuddled style caused one to laugh so hard at his gentle humor that you forgot the sadness in his passing. In the first of the other two shows you had Julian Clary, Clement Freud, Linda Smith and Simon Jones in what I must profess is the most unusual match I had ever heard of the show. The contestants actually got rather testy at times so much so that Linda Smith began yelling out, "Fight! Fight! Fight!" The second show included Greg Proops, an American with a rather strange accent (he said he had his root in the south, via San Francisco, but his humor was via San Francisco and that could explain some things) and Graham Norton, who was actually rather quiet, except when he spoke, which might sound confusing, but then again, maybe I have been listening to his logic too much and somehow this makes sense. Whatever the case, this fourth installment of "Just a Minute" is well worth my having it shipped to me in the USA. I just wish there were more of the tapes available now that the BBC no longer broadcasts shortwave signals to English speaking countries.
Just a brilliant show! September 16, 2001 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Another brilliant cassette of the Radio 4 show! My personal favourite has to be the one with Stephen Fry who is quick witted and even manages to get some friendly jibes in about Nicholas Parsons. This is laugh out loud funny and if you like radio 4 comedy you are bound to love it. Clement Freud and Paul Merton are regulars and give consistently high performances.
Well More Than A Laugh A Minute! May 4, 2001 olifarago@mail.com (Suffolk, UK) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The talented panel of players of this game deliver much more than a laugh a minute. This is a Radio 4 classic not to be missed.
Magical moments in radio comedy. January 23, 2001 csv@kerridge.com (Bristol, UK) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
With four fantastic recordings of this great show, it's a guaranteed 2 hours of gut busting laughter. I must however point out for the sake of safety that listening whilst driving is to be avoided at all costs, it's that good.
