Classic FM Favourite Shakespeare A Must-Have! September 23, 2000 carlag@uswest.net (Tacoma, Washington, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For those fans of Shakespeare who received their first taste reading Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, or any other plays and poetry, for that matter, then Classic FM Favourite Shakespeare will be a welcome trip down memory lane! This recording contains passages such as the famous''To Be Or Not To Be''soliloquy, The Seven Ages of Man, and the familiar witches'chant from Macbeth! What's more, if you are wanting to start building a library of audio books, then you will want to begin with Favourite Shakespeare! Get thee to thy local bookstore!
Patronising and uniformative May 17, 2000 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
The tape wastes a lot of time with Elizabethan music in between readings. The comments that help to put the readings in context are fatuous and contrived. The actual reading have been grouped in a rather contrived way..the 7 ages of man...and have been assigned a grouping sometimes on the slimmest of rationales.Rather than inspiring a newcomer to read more shakespeare this tape is in danger of killing any interest stone dead!
