Addictive listening February 10, 2008 Mrs. P. Hayton (Cumbria, England) This CD is a great listen. Bought the book, but I can't hold it nor read it anymore so CD's are the answer. I am only on CD3 but am champing at the bit to listen to the other 2. This book has got me totally hooked. Brilliant listen.
A great way to read this book! February 3, 2008 Lady Juli Thorpe (East Sussex, England) The Da Vinci Code on Audiobooks This book and the movie have changed the way many people see history and think about Christianity. Ideas that had been reserved for university professors and religious history buffs have now been exposed to the general public. If you don't have the time to sit down and read a book this is the way to learn what everyone is talking about. There is no excuse now for saying I don't have time to read the book because if you are like me you spend hours in the car every week and what a great way to pass the time! How many other books can it be said has changed or impacted a generation so much....Harry Potter?
Brilliant edited down reading from the book September 11, 2007 Driverdriver (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had avoided Dan Browns novels till now due to all the hype that has surrounded them. Then by chance I came across the 17hour(14 CD) un-abridged version in my local library, and decided to find out what all the fuss was about. CD ONE, five minutes in, and I'm hooked. If the un-abridged version had been available on amazon I would have have gone for that, but its not and although I was not sure how the abridged 6hr 40mins version would work out, for around 1.60 plus, you would be daft not to give it a go. I'm glad I did as it is just edited down from the 17 hour recording and well edited, and having heard both, just as good. The only problem is once you start listening you don't want to stop. I really DO recommend this recording to anyone who knows the book and wants it for car journeys, or if like me you just wanted to find out what the fuss was about. Believe me it's worth your time. But a warning, you will probably end up buying the book. You can get the hardback version for less than a pound + p&p here on Amazon. I've ordered mine!!
Engrossing! May 28, 2006 J. Buckingham (Kent, England) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have to disagree with the comment about the comedy accents; I thought that this audio book and the story in general is superb, I've never been this hooked on a novel, I could sense the atmosphere from the beginning. Brilliant. Oh, and to clarify, it states clearly on the box that the story IS ABRIDGED, just as well really, roughly 6 1/2 hours is plenty and the narrator is excellent; he makes you feel you the characters are real. You either like historical novels or you dont though, some people like no-brainer stories. This isnt one of them. It's excellent and makes you think.

This has to be the dullest and most boring book ever, i'm glad that i listened to the tape rather than actually reading it though. This was supposed to be controvercial but i really dont see what all of the 'hoo-ha' was about. Mithras being the first messiah and Jesus being the second as in the book 'lucifer wars' now that was controvercial! Da-vinci code has Mary Magdelein as possibly being Jesus's wife (well so what?) and apart from a nonsensical conspiracy theory that's about it really. After all the fanfare this was very dissapointing.
