5 out of 5 stars Another storming read by Forsyth!   March 8, 2001
l.w.thomas@talk21.co.uk (Liverpool Uni, UK)
This, like all of Forsyth's novels, is a well crafted piece of literature. Again and again the book twists and turns, always surprising the reader. It is pure page turning excitement (although the very end is a little weak), and to be classed alongside the other of Forsyth's classics.

4 out of 5 stars tough in the beginning but amazing at the end   December 3, 1999
In the beginning it is very hard to follow the story because it jumps up and down in time and you really have to stick with it. But that's well worht your time because of the incredible end. The end is one of the most exciting pieces of writing I have ever read. You just will not be able to put down your book anymore!

4 out of 5 stars Another top quality story by Frederick Forsyth   February 28, 1999
Synopsis: The kidnapping of a young man on a country road in Oxfordshire is but the first brutal step in a ruthless plan to force the President of the United States out of office. Only one man can stop it - Quinn, the world's foremost Negotiator...

Review: I found this book difficult to start - any book that requires a Cast List at the beginning is a little off-putting (although useful later on!). However after the first three chapters, which set the scene, this book settles into a fast-paced plot and contains numerous red herrings and twists. This is one of the few books I have read that have contained genuine surprises that don't go beyond the realms of credability.

The Negotiator is a very good book which keeps you guessing right to the very end. Frederick Forsyth never fails to write a gripping story - and this book is no exception.
