Amazon.co.uk Review The Teeth of the Tiger answers, vigourously, the question of what a Tom Clancy thriller would look like in the post-9/11 era. A new generation of the Ryan family takes the field, operating with considerably more ruthlessness and fewer constraints against Islamic fundamentalist killers and the money men who fund them. Jack Ryan's nephews, a Marine and an FBI man, are the hit men and his son the controlling intelligence behind their choice of targets, as revenge is taken for a set of vicious assaults on American civilians. There is a lot of background knowledge at work here--Clancy knows his stuff when it comes to people-smuggling and financial transfers--and a certain understanding of what makes both kinds of killer tick. Both religion and the idea of America are things for which men are prepared to kill and die--Clancy is at times scarily certain politics give him insight into the modern world. You read him for the occasional flurries of exciting action, but he also has something interesting to tell us about the frame of mind of his more devoted fans. --Roz Kaveney

A disappointing read! November 4, 2008 D. Palmer (Milton Keynes, UK) I've read every Clancy novel and this has to be the worst he's written! There are obvious plot holes and the characters are poorly written. Anybody who's read Clancy, or any other spy novel, knows that you watch your target for a while before killing him. That way you get more leads on possible contacts. As I was reading this I was mentally screaming at the pages to tell the characters to slow down! The ending is very much an anti-cimax and you turn over the last page looking for an epilogue, when there isn't one.
Boring June 23, 2008 Rafael (London, London Great Britain) I never dreamed Tom Clancy could produce such a load of rubbish.I imagine it was to try to seem 'with it'that his main charactors use 'BRO; every other word. That Jack Ryan could oroduce a homicidal zombie son like this is enough to wipe out all the years spent with him sorry BRO doubt I shall ever pick up a Clancy book again PRINCE RAFAEL

This novel is short on pages for a Clancy novel. And a fast read. But it looked as if he did not do the research he normally does for his books. He may have put this one out a little too fast. And when I read the last word of this novel...I was expecting to turn the page to continue. It is as if this is just the first half of the novel he intended. Now with all that said, I still enjoyed reading it. In this book we have Jack Jr. and his two cousins joining an organization who's sole purpose is to eliminate known threats to the USA. The book starts with the recruitment of Jack's cousins, an FBI agent and an active U.S. Marine Corps Captain. And Jack Jr. comes knocking at this super secret agency's door looking for a job right out of college. They are then exposed to terrosit activity on home soil. The rest of the book follows our heros as they hunt down and assissnate those they know had a part in this terrorist act.

Remember Red Rabbit? Well, this one is even worse! Tom Clancy had given us a number of good novels, some excellent ones (THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and THE CARDINAL OF THE CREMLIN) and then there are these... Words just placed one besides the other. Pages following one another with nothing added to either the plot or characters or atmosphere. And the political preaching...well, it reaches meltdown levels... He had a good run. Let's not encourage him anymore.
Oh Tom what have you done July 13, 2007 E. Gibbs (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having read a lot of Clancy books, I was hoping for the same with this, indeed, without remorse is probably one of my favorite books. This on the other hand is not! A squalid tepid affair with no depth and far too much Clancy "this is how the world should be" ism!
