Like chocolate.. too sweet but irresistible!! August 12, 2008 Anna Buch You will fall in love with this wonderfully funny and engrossing novel... whether you like it or not. It's just too satisfying to see Hollywood stripped off its usual glamour and (quite literally) with its pants down. The characters are hilarious and the story could just as well have taken place in 2008 (subject to a slight wardrobe change). The book follows the lives and numerous loves of aspiring, current, and has-been movie stars (and of course their wives), director, screenwriter, producer and agent whose fates become interlinked as they attempt to make a movie. Ross Conti, the selfish aging movie star, and his ambitious wife Elaine are one of the most adorable, human and insanely funny couples in trashy-novel history. Oliver Easterne, the unscrupulous producer, will have you in tears of laughter and you will love to hate him. Gina Germaine, the blonde, big-bosomed egoistic Barbie doll, plays a vital part in one of the novel's most memorable and hilarious storylines. These are but a few of the book's delicious cast of characters whose lives interrelate in the small village that is Hollywood. The plot is fast-moving, extremely engaging and the ending will startle you. A perfect holiday read!
If only... July 17, 2007 N. A. Khan (London, England) ...Jackie Collins spent as much time/thought/effort into plotting/writing all her novels after this one...apart from a couple of the Lucky ones her books post HW have been rubbish. Seriously rubbish. It's like she has one trick (a serial killer) and tries to conjure that in many ways, but unlike Hollywood Wives where you really dont know whats what till the end, the rest of her novels just seem like computer programmed rehashes of substandard stuff. take my advice: if u wanna read a jackie Collins try one of the Lucky books (except the disastrous Dangerous Kiss) or this one. Hollywood Wives is brilliant. The rest of her books are second rate rubbish by a lazy woman who cant be bothered to write.

Possibly the best novel Collins has written. Very funny, fast moving and great characters. Really, this is a great book. If you only ever read one Jackie Collins, this is the one you should read.
Fast paced, exiting, heart stopping page turning novel. May 28, 2000 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This novel is definately one of her best. I read it in 3 days on holiday and found myself thinking constantly of the characters in the book. There are various story lines in the novel, all cleverly linking up in the end. Hollywood Wives is a fast paced novel which is very easy to get into with the usual erotic excitement. It is a real page turning, you find yourself praying the character will end up alright. Will she go back to him, why did he do what he did, will she find out, the list goes on. You will find yourself deeply involved in the storyline and constantly thinking about it. You will not be able to think about anything else until you have finished it, and even then thoughts will keep popping into your head.I would also recommend Lovers and Gambles, another brillient novel by Jackie Collins
stunning, glitzy, fun. December 30, 1999 claire@chastings.freeserve.co.uk (Southampton, England. UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
About the best book Jackie C has ever written. This will always be her classic masterpiece, her epitaph even. The plot is so clever it makes you think you're part of it, even though you don't know, until the very last minute, WHO the baddie is! Fast-paced and thrilling, you're left wondering at times what your own life lacks!! WARNING: Forget drugs, this book's a better hit!
