Really funny August 3, 2008 Miss London (UK) Read recently, really funny social satire. Chris Manby is like the Brontes and Austen of the modern age.
a page turner of a social satire May 16, 2008 Iago Zabibha (Worcester United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I couldn't put this book down, I was up till 5 am reading it. Yes, it is a little contrived but there are some wonderful characters. Two English gold diggers rent a house in the exclusive Hamptons, next door to the uber-bitchy Marcella. The girls try to bag themselves a wealthy man, but it appears the wealthy men targetted are rather lacking in social skills. Some amusing situations and nice twists, as the girls try to bag a catch and the Hamptonites try to find out more about the girls.
Funny funny funny December 11, 2007 MiniN (UK) Two English girls find their way to the wealthy Hampton village of Little Elbow in search of, not Mr Right, but Mr Rich. They go in search of eligible bachelors, that are very 'interesting' characters. The girls make a big stir in the affluent village and find them rivals of their socialite next door neighbour. There is much sepuclation of where the girls came from and how they have so much money. After much searching and dating, will the girls find their true loves closer to home? And what affect can a bout of amensia have on their situation? Definately a book full of humour and twists!
Perseverance is the key September 9, 2007 K. Earnshaw (GB) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
After reading a number of Chris Manby books i decided to purchase her new book 'marrying for money'. The first few chapters were hard to get into as so many new characters were introduced it could be a little confusing at first. However, i persevered and in the end i was sad to finish the book. The book had some very funny points, and yes there were some predictable parts as others have mentioned but this did not in any way take anything away from a good book.
Boring August 20, 2007 Book Worm 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
One of only two books I have ever started reading and did not finish because it was soooo bad. This book had no pace, a terrible story line, wasn't comical and even for chick lit there was no real gripping romance in the story. A chore to read.
