This book has done the job! August 18, 2008 Hasnain Ali I've passed my MCTS web-client development certification last week with flying colours. Credit goes to this book. It beautifully covers every topic. It covers Mobile web development which normally does not cover by most ASP.NET books. For exam preparations I would also strongly suggest looking at Transcenders or TestKing practice test to get ready for the big day.
Great grounding for any developer - editing could be better! August 4, 2007 Dominicz (Swindon, Wilts United Kingdom) I too, used this book to revise for my MCTS exam. The content is superb and covered most of the web features I would use regularly. I only gave it 4 stars as I found the questions at the end of the chapters were sometimes wrong, i.e. the multiple choice questions had either duplicate choices, or the answer described in the book didn't match the choice. An example of this is asking about random images and it gave you the "AdServer" control (which doesn't exist). The answer said this was the correct answer because the "AdRotator" was best suited .... No sense at all! This annoyed me quite a lot. I think there was a total of about 10 questions that did this. Apart from that, the content was fairly clear and useful. The questions were well justified and answered. Oh - and one more thing - the example on HttpHandlers was useless, look for resources on the internet to better understand this.
Makes sense to buy it to pass the Exam May 2, 2007 Mr. R. Gupta (Hook, hampshire) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I passed my exam last week with a score of 929 out of 1000. I used MSDN and this book for learning the objectives for this exam. There are 3 reasons why you should buy this book :- 1) The Book comes with a CD that has 300 sample questions with a difficulty level similar to what you will find in the exam. These questions help you to understand the gaps in your knowledge. 2) The Book comes with a discount voucher of 15% of the cost of the exam. This is equivalent to around 14 of rebate that you get while booking your exam. 3) It also has a chapters on Mobile Controls and Deployment which I could not find on other ASP.NET 2.0 books. The Negatives for this book are :- 1) The Code samples are repeated in C# and VB.NET which is waste of space. 2) The Content on most of the topics is not in detail. On the whole the positives outweight the negatives so I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to clear this exam.
