MCITP: Supporting and Troubleshooting Applications on a Windows Vista Client for Enterprise Support Technicians November 30, 2008 D. D. Pitre (England) I would just like to point out that I believe the previous review was intended for another book the 70-444 Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administration Solution by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 part of the MCITP: Database Administrator series. This book however covers all the topics comprehensively and thoroughly for the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator 70-622 exam, with a complete layout and objectives set at the beginning of each chapter and practices to complete at the end. There is however a few errors in the book though such as in chapter 3 where you are instructed to use the GPMC.MSC command in the search feature on the start menu only to find that it has been removed in the service pack 1 release of windows vista. There is however a download from Microsoft called Remote Server Administration Tools giving you the same control over group policy management and more. I found the book easy to follow but hands on experience is always helpful when studying for Microsoft exams. I also use cbtnuggets.com videos as they usually follow the objectives set but offer more of a visual guide to compliment the books. All in All, this book is a necessity to complete the 70-622 exams
This is quite poor May 10, 2008 Mr. A. Weetman (London, UK) 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
I don't really have motivation to write reviews normally but the poor quality of this book seems to have done the trick this time. It seems as if the authors were given a couple of weeks to write material for this last book in the MCITP DBA exam series. They have cobbled together content (a lot copied and pasted from books online) and arranged it so that it is repetive (yet sometimes subtley inconsistent), not following any logical flow (especially the first 3 chapters) and hard to read. The worst thing is that there are obvious errors. The second book in the series was well written and very tight. This one however seems to demonstrate either a lack of author knowledge or some phenomenally poor editing. In the early chapters, there's even some content ripped off books online about notification services (not on the syllabus but seemingly included because of a ignorant books online search for how to manage database sizes) So this book is a let down.
