Just for the very, very, very begin. September 10, 2006 MarcoP (Oxford, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book is clear and somehow it is quite simple to follow the examples and reach a decent level in video editing. That's it. This book has been written for that and JUST for that, because there is almost anything else inside. The curious beginner will be totally disappointed when he will (quickly) start to understand the procedures and he will look for explanations. Even the most reckless beginners would like to know the meanings behind thousands of different acronyms or settings. Not everything explained but something, to let you in a new world without feeling dull. There is nothing of that in this pure "introductory technical manual". This book has been thought for someone who needs just to put some clips together and burn a DVD in a couple of weeks. If you are going into the world of editing and you want to know more then just few procedures, avoid this book. Disappointed
Truly a 'Bible' for video editing August 23, 2004 oxocubes (Warrington England) 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
I am a comlete beginner to video editing. I found the User Guide which came with the software pretty opaque. This Bible is clearly written, well illustrated and, unlike the Guide, is presented in logical sequence. It includes a Quick Start chapter which does what it says and therefore gives confidence to a novice. In a very short space of time I have managed to capture a home movie from VHS, edit it (including some amazing transitions) and copy it to DVD.I have also captured a vidoe from my digital camcorder and edited that. If I can do it anyone can with the aid of this excellent book.
Great April 25, 2004 Martin Janson (Europe) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Simple but yet efficient. It shows you how to the basic steps at first andlater helps you to learn the complex tricks and it is taught with reallife situations. Great as a reference book and as a self teaching book.
Movies made simple March 16, 2004 30 out of 31 found this review helpful
What a tome of knowledge this turned out to be. I was studying a part-time college course in Multimedia Production using Adobe Premiere. Unfortunately the college was using version 6 and I was using version 7 Pro at home so instances of confusion about what to do next were occurring - hence I ordered the book.It arrived just in time for my final assignment making my full movie - finding the relevant info was easy and straightforward to follow and in no time at all my masterpiece was completed. Rated "excellent" by my tutor it now enjoys being downloaded off the net. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of making a movie with this software - from beginner to more advanced you can achieve an incredibly polished film. The in-depth sections on importing and exporting files covers every eventuality, and as a reference book this is definately one of the best I've ever read for software usage. Needless to say I shall be making more short films with the aid of this book.
