A very good insight on a lot of topics March 7, 2004

I first saw this book when 4 months into an AS Music Technology course and after reading it from front to back wondered how I ever managed before reading this. Paul White is a very knowledgable writer [also writing for Sound on Sound] and puts the subjects across very well.
There is also a nifty near 50 page glossary covering a wide range of essential terms.
The book is split into chapters of; The Mixing Console; Multitrack Mixers; Equalisers; Patching & Patchbays; Studio Mixing; Live Sound Mixing. These are then split into comfortably sized sub-sections.
In short this book is a neccessity to somone is who is just starting a Music Technology course and wants a book to cover plenty of sections or a seasoned engineer needing a small 'pocket' sized book for quick answers.
Certainly worth buying this first and before his other books in the 'Basic' series as it covers a lot of what they do but in a shorter time and sort of sum all of this books into one pocket sized bible.
