Absolutely superb March 25, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had this book as a small child and bought it for my sons. It's still as fascinating and slightly scarey as it was all those years ago. You feel anything is possible with Harold and his purple crayon..
Clever idea; very well executed. February 16, 2005 J. E. Davidson (UK) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
This book follows the adventure of Harold and his purple crayon. Harold draws things with his purple crayon and then interacts with the things that he has drawn. The text is simple but the story is strong - the illustrations are basic (they are just pictures that you could draw with a purple crayon!) but very effective.Great fun and very stimulating. When I read it with my son (4) after having forgotten about the book for a while it provoked a huge number of quite complicated questions about the nature of reality and imagination. Highly recommended.
One of the Best January 20, 2004 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
This book was an excellent recommendation for me and my children (through Sarks' Playbook). It's got us all drawing just for the adventure of it. Very endearing illustration with a feel of a more innocent and friendly time. Great for children but, really, good for adults with a creative drive. Love it.
Funny and imaginative, loved by all ages May 11, 2000 7 out of 14 found this review helpful
A wonderful way to get children to draw using their imagination with just a simple line.
a revolutionary idea of dreams. April 6, 2000 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Harold's adventures with his crayon become the epitome of the "American-Dream." He creates his life to his own specifications, an idealistic utopia where the only problem is how to get home. We should all be as lucky as Harold.
