great book July 1, 2008 grandma mo (uk) great book as for baby been bottle fed ,this is really good for an adopted child coming into a family
Big Sister June 11, 2008 B. Gibson (Solihull, UK) Like a previous reviewer I have been surprised at how much my 17 month old enjoys this book. We have now had it for 3 weeks and at the moment it is her favourite book. She too makes the appropriate "crying" noises. To be honest I was surprised at how well she took to it as I thought it may be a bit old for her but she loves it and is already talking to the "baby" in Mommy's tummy (due in ten weeks.) As mentioned it would be good if the baby was seen to be breastfed as well.
A brilliant buy March 1, 2008 Mrs. R. Murray (UK) My daughter (who was 19 months when my baby was born) wasn't that interested in this book until she actually became a big sister. It's now her favourite book and we have to read it almost every night. It's a brilliant way of talking about what new babies do. Although there are some Americanisms we just change these as we are reading. I'm going to buy this and the brother version for my friends who are pregnant!
Great book for a toddler who's about to become a big sister February 12, 2008 D. Malcolm (Kendal, UK) I brought this book for my daughter who has just turned 2 and she loves it. It looks at many aspects of being a big sister and has lovely colourful pictures and really positive language. The only thing that could have made it better for me, is to have show a baby being breastfed as this is what babies spend a lot of time doing. However on the whole the book is great and suitable for any little girl who is about to become a big sister. Th last page is lovely "mummy loves me, Daddy loves me, I am special to them. I'm the only me in the whole world!
Great Book aimed at just the right level January 8, 2006 P. McIntyre (UK) 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
I read this to my daughter before our son was born and she loved it. It really helped her understand why the baby would cry and for the first few days he was home she would say he was trying to tell us something when he cried. She even quotes from it now, and he is 4 months old. So it really had a lasting impression on her. Yes it does assume all babies are bottle fed, but this is fine as it doesn't even occur to children to question it and since the vast majority of children are bottle fed this is fine I think.
