The book is from the USA and is not particularly applicable to the way adoptions in the Uk are arranged. I found the illustrations particularly dark and will not be using it with our little girl.

I bought this book to help me explain adoption to my little boy. It is strongly based on the USA system where birth mothers help to choose parents for their children. Most children in this country are removed from their birth families and this book would probably confuse a child.
It brings up the problem 'if my mum loved me that much why didnt she keep me?' It is a sweet book but too sentimental for my tastes and not suitable for our situation.
