The trouble with hands... December 15, 2002 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
If like me drawing hands is one of the more difficult parts of the anatomy to master mainly because studying our own hands is often from the wrong angle than the one that you require you might find this book useful. It's packed with lots of drawings of hands from different perspectives and help with the rules of foreshortening. The drawings themselves are very bold and may seem too strong for some, but I feel that they benefit from looking this way as it enhances the details of the bone and muscle structure which would naturally be softened by your own style if that is what you prefer. This book is an excellent reference to keep coming back to.
Filled with breathtaking illustrations. December 29, 1999 robkar97@astud.chalmers.se (Gothenburg, Sweden) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book beats all competition hands down (no pun intended). It is filled with magnificent illustrations that will boost your inspiration. It contains every possible aspect of drawing hands and it helped me a lot.
Knowledge and emotion on the fingertips of every page. May 3, 1999 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought the book in order to gain a better insight on the movement of the hand. It was not untill I opened the pages that I found an entire world of intrege and emotion. I was lost in the form and I admired the shere power that lay within.
A good book for aspiring comic artists. April 10, 1997 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
As the father of the Tarzan character and art, and the co-founder of the School of Visual Arts with silas rhodes, Burne Hogarth is far qualified to teach the fundamentals of great figure drawing. His Drawing Series of Books should be on the shelves of any aspiring comic artist. For more information on his books and a short collected listing of other useful books for aspiring comic artists and illustrators available in Amazon.com, visit der Mudgecko's Reading List for Comic Artists at:
