An absolute treat for Larkin fans! December 20, 2006 Scampo (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Imagine Larkin taking us on a journey through his life, complete with wry and witty narration and various poems neatly fitted in en route. Well, in this wonderful CD, Tom Courtney takes on the role of Philip Larkin and does this for us really rather brilliantly. It's well worth buying just for the readings of the poems alone - really, it's that good, but the autobiographical narration is a real treat. You'll smile a good deal, laugh aloud more than a few times and be moved, too. Larkin afficianados will need no convincing that this man was not the pessimist some cast him as, not at all, and this will convince others of the wry wit and true humanity of this wonderful writer and poet.
