AN enjoyable read September 5, 2008 busy lizzy (Hampshire, UK) My son is a fan of Shirleys son Jeremy, I'm a fan of Paddington. So I couldn't resist reading this. I have an original 'gabrielle' bear bought for me by my parents from a shop in the New Forest while holidaying there in the 70's. So I was very interested to find out his history. This was a lovely read. An inspiration to those starting a small business from nothing and the pitfalls along the way. Well done Mrs Clarkson.
A charming, gentle and thoroughly enjoyable read July 9, 2008 J. Foster (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I was given 'Jeremy Clarkson's Mum's Biography' as a birthday present I wasn't too impressed but decided to give it a go anyway. I'm very glad I did. I haven't been able to put this book down. It's not a 'page turner' and doesn't make your heart race but the story of Gabrielle Designs is told in such a friendly, honest and conversational way that I just wanted to know more about how they got on. I'm not sure if it's a childhood affinity to Paddington Bear and the TV shows that were always on just before the news or that as an adult I really like Top Gear but I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who wants to read something that's just 'nice'.

Having Known Mr and Mrs Clarkson briefly in the early to mid 1980s as an apprentice electrician working at both the bear factory and their home. I thought I would buy mrs Clarksons book and I must be honest at this point I have quite an extensive library of books that I have bought over the past 25 years and not one of them have I ever finished. Bearly Believable is the first book in 25 years that I have ever read cover to cover and not been able to put down. from start to finish its got everything to keep you glued, you can certainly see where Jeremy gets his wit from. This book put me through an whole array of feelings its a lot of fun with a lot stress tinged with a bit of sadness towards the end, Its real people talking about real life good times and bad times. I now have a collection of four Paddington Bears which I have only just over the last couple of years started to collect so this book was interesting to read to find where he really came from. all in all a truly great read enjoyed it immensley.
