A poor version of an excellent book January 3, 2009 Peter Williams 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Let me begin by saying that this is a truly inspiring and insightful book, and one which will help anyone immeasurably. It is mainly focused on acquiring wealth (hence the title), but the principles can be applied to achieving any goal. Despite being written over 70 years ago, the content is just as relevant and useful today, and easily deserves the full five stars. With that said, this is a very poor version of the book. The content appears to be complete and original, but it is riddled with spelling mistakes and typographical errors, and I've even found a couple of places where entire paragraphs have somehow found themselves transplanted into the middle of other paragraphs, sometimes in the middle of a word! This is frequently distracting and sometimes nigh-on impossible to read. It is clear that the book has been rushed out with no proof-reading whatsoever. In summary, I can't recommend this book enough, but please buy a different version.

I am reading this book for the third time! Napoleon Hill wrote this at the time of the Depression and it has become as relevant now as it was in the 1930's. The basic message is that you don't have to be bright or well educated to be successful (he quotes Henry Ford) - you need to have faith and perseverance (Thomas Edison). He gives examples of people who have overcome obstacles and adversity and shows how they did it. He also gives specific exercises on self belief, setting targets and adopting positive beliefs and attitudes. He describes the Depression as a great leveller, and an opportunity for anyone to start on the road to success and wealth.
One Of The Originals In Our Times And The Best! November 24, 2008 Sharon Eden (London UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A classic work incorporating developmental principles from down the ages in a motivational and inspirational style. Many have come after and tried to emulate Napoleon Hill but, for me, his seminal work covering 13 very do-able principles is still the best.
a classic August 17, 2008 Janet Ashfield (UK) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Originally published in 1937. Napoleon Hill developed a simple 13 step formula to help you identify your goals, master the secrets of true and lasting success, obtain what you want in life, join the ranks of the super successful. This book is easy to understand and gets you thinking about positive thinking in relation to greater wealth, with lots of examples of men and women and their stories of success.
