The Perfect Procrastination Book March 21, 2008 Murphy 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful book! I read it slowly and managed to put off doing anything useful for three weeks! Whenever I feel like working I dip into it for inspiration and invariably manage to dissuade myself from work. This book has become an essential part of my Procrastination Toolkit!
Love it! February 5, 2008 MayGoodComeToUs (Rome, Lazio, ITALY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a classic, in my book...There are certain self help books that you know are the starting point for every new one that is written and this is one of them. The author begins that procrastination is not a disease, but a defense mechanism...By understanding the process of procratination, one is much more likely to work through comfortably rather than white knuckling it through "willpower". The techniques the author outlines are easily understood and put into practice almost immediately and they are, all in all, painless...I say, let the next habit you pick up be THE NOW HABIT!
Helps you understand and overcome a crippling habit September 7, 2007 Phillistein (Margate, Kent United Kingdom) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've read hundreds of self-help books, but this blows almost everything else out of the water. This book helped me to understand the reasons why I procrastinate and showed how this habit leads to worry, loss of confidence and chronic underperformance - even in areas that I had not considered to be linked to procrastination. It's like suffering a mysterious illness and feeling that, at last, there is a proper diagnosis and cure. It even shows how the classic shaming and bullying tactics others use to 'spur us on' only serve to fuel the emotions which block natural performance and success. This is now available on audiobook, read by the author. Play it on the way to work and improve your performance!
Balancing between Work and Play is the key August 23, 2007 Kosha Irulta (Secunderabad, AP India) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Now Habit is the best book on procrastination. It gives tools to attack the procrastination habit; more important, it asks you to schedule time for play (not just work) in your calendar. This, the author says, is very important. And then you are asked to stick to the schedule of play. Having this guilt free time for play frees up our mind to give quality time to 'work' part of our life. I have found the advice on the mark and very helpful. There are many more important nuggets of information like Reverse Calendar, 3D view of work, etc. which are also very helpful. One of the must read books definitely.
Good book but didn't help me. September 26, 2006 V. Freitas 9 out of 15 found this review helpful
Although there's nothing really wrong with this book, it didn't help me at all. I read through it, found some interesting stuff, but my procrastination habits remained the same. Although I didn't seriously follow any of the suggestions, because my procrastination problem is rather serious, that's why I still gave it 4 stars, because in my situation I think it's hard for a book to really help me. So, if you have a slight to moderate procrastination problem this book may help you. Otherwise, the best is to see a therapist.
