Great Summary ! September 21, 2000 I have used the NT Workstation, Server and Enterprise versions of this book and passed my exams with flying colours. They give an excellent summary of the stuff you need to know for the exam, and have superb end of chapter 'Exam Essentials' that you can review the night before the exam. I strongly reccomend this book for anyone who wants to know the right stuff but doesn't want to trawl through fluffy 1000 page course books. It won't teach you everything about NT but it will get your knowledge up to exam level.
Excellent for kick-starting your memory ! March 22, 2000 warde70@aol.com (Surrey, England) Just taken NT4 Workstation today and got a 900! Although from an IT background, I would not class myself as NT experienced, but a combination of Microsoft tutor-lead training, this book to precis the important stuff and the Transcender tests was perfect. Only criticism is that the review questions are a bit too easy....still, if you're using Transcender as well, which is so hard it is easy to convince yourself that you'll never pass, perhaps it's something of an antidote ! Highly recommended for pre-exam focussing at all levels.
Excelent summary of most of the topics covered on the test! June 9, 1999 Excelent summary of most of the topics covered on the test! Reading this book before taking the test brought alot of forgotten details back to mind.
Rest of Book Holds Up March 2, 1999 I'm the lameo security expert! Anyway I came back to raise my assesment of this book as I found the rest of it held up very well. I felt I was a bit harsh before given that almost all these books have a problem here or there and this one actually is good in most areas. I also had not intended my review to go in twice. What interested me was finding reference to me as "lameo Security Expert". As one who is really trying to learn this material and not turn certification into a cheap reward, I think over reliance on Transcender and the goal of just passing so you can make the big bucks is ruining this opportunity for everyone. I explaned security as it is and as I learned it and in a way I had hoped would help others. To be chastised for that I think shows you where the certification program is heading. Too bad.
Buy this book and pass the test. February 22, 1999 This book and transcenders 4.0 is all that ANYONE wishing to take the test really needs--including the lameo "security expert" below.
