1 out of 5 stars Another disappointment...   July 4, 2008
Silver Wolf (England)
I have been an avid fan of Patricia Cornwell since book 1 but of late I have been extremely disappointed and this book was no exception. It lacks everything that made her earlier books so gripping and I can't help but think that maybe this was written for the money. The plot is poor, the characters feeble and well, I did read it through to the end but only because I had paid good money for. I think that in future I will be giving her books a wide berth.

4 out of 5 stars Great Summer read   July 1, 2008
Tia Chadwick
i was lucky enought to be forwarded this book by the Little, Brown Book Group, and i was so very pleased! it isn't like some of her earlier novels, but, that doesn't mean that is isn't worth a good read. i really enjoyed it, and, being a new mum, i thought the smaller, shorter chapters were great. it isn't as long as some of the other Patricia Conwell books i have read in the past, but i liked this. it was great to pack in my beach bag and as soon as i started reading, i had to finnish it! i couldn't put it down. i like the fact that it is 181 pages long, so you can free up an afternoon, sit on the beach and read it from cover to cover, because you won't put it down! she is such a brill writer, and i really hope she writes some more books with these charactors, ( Win Garano, ~Monique Lamont, nana ,Stump, Raggedy Ann, Ect, Ect)

hope this helps, and when the next of these books comes out, i will be the first to go out and buy it and free up of of my afternoons, i just suggest that you do the same!

Happy reading!

5 out of 5 stars The front   June 22, 2008
T. Weetman (UK)
Cornwell has returned to her formula with avengeance, Wyn Garano is the masculine eqivalent to Scapettas tenacious enquiring mind but has typical male approach to life with women and wine.
The story line makes you want to sit and read it in one fell swoop as the plot thickens you avidly read to see the outcome. The dissapointment was perhaps it ended too quickly and certain lines of enquiry were left unanswered. Cornwell has the ability to lead you through the story and let you feel the frustrations and fears of the characters. The plot is believable with the reality of power and corruptness of policiticans.
An enjoyable return to Cornwell creating mysteries of a new character that will meet new challenges- can,t wait for the next thrilling plot.

1 out of 5 stars not so good   June 20, 2008
Ompom (west midlands,UK)
Was looking forward to reading this but very disappointed. Glad only reserved it from the libray. Have read all previous books and agree with a lot of reviwers, that her writing isn't as good as it used to be. Try Harlan Coban or Steve Hamilton instead

If you want a very boring read, buy this book. Patricia Cornwell is trading on past glory.
