Nothing like the film October 8, 2004 A. Pitts (England.) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read this because i'm a huge fan of the film. Although the book is good, at times it seemed quite boring and involved a lot of effort to keep reading. The story is good, but don't expect it to be like the film.
Enjoyable to read and even better than the film! April 6, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had already seen the film of Legally Blonde so I bought it as I expected that although it would not be quite as good as the film I would still quite enjoy it. However I was greatly mistaken as I found that I didn't need to read into the book before I started to get into it but that I was hooked before I was onto the second page. I took the book with me everywhere and didn't miss a chance to read it. There were more differences than I had expected between the book and the film and felt that the book seemed like a more likely story and that this increased my enjoyment of it. I was entirely satisfied with the ending and thought that Amanda Brown had finished the story a lot better than the makers of the film had. I encourage anyone who liked the movie to read this book and hope that they, like myself, enjoy it even more.
Legally Blonde November 7, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book thinking it was going to be like the film, which was great, but overall i didn't think it was as good as the film. It is mainly the same storyline but she has different friends and the dog has a different name. There's also a lot about the lawyers and stuff which i found quite hard to follow. I think this is definitely more of an adult book than a childs, although it was pretty good.
See the movie (if you like chick flicks) but skip the bookOk July 16, 2003 Neal C. Reynolds (Indianapolis, Indiana) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Okay, so I'm not even a fan of this genre of movie or book, but hey, I did like the Reese Witherspoon movie. Fluffy, yes, but still entertaining, and so I figured I'd read the book it was based on.Well, there are few points to the book not in the movie. However, the characters, all of them, seem much shallower than they seemed in the movie. Not so much shallow in the author's portrayals, but more just shallow people with some intelligence, but little emotional depth to their characters. As a book that appeals to younger women, I sure would have liked to have seen more awareness of values.
Very Disappointing June 12, 2003 J. Mac 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
After watching and loving the movie, I decided to give the book a go. I was expecting differences between the movie and the book, but what I wasn't expecting was the book to be so boring. It is clear that this must be her first novel as the way events were described were not very interesting, I was surprised that this book was even made into a movie, with the book being so terrible, luckily the movie is quite different. My advise to people would be, watch the movie, it's much better
