Overrated April 11, 2008 Anonymous (United Kingdom) I saw this advertised in one of my magazines and thought "Wow! I have to get that book!", so out I went. However, I was actually rather disappointed with it. Looks beautiful on my bookshelf, but I have only read it once. The content is the same as many other similar books of the genre, and after a while this gets a bit same-y and nothing sets it apart from the others! There are the few odd good bits, but they are outnumbered by the not so good, in my opinion. I imagine it would be a fantastic book for a person new to these types of books, but for those who it is not, I would borrow it from someone before buying.
Fun book but not hugely practical January 28, 2008 Ferryjane (Bonnie Scotland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Have just purchased this book for myself and although it is a lovely volume, beautifully bound and with a fabulously tactile cover, I'm sorry to say that not all of the advice and information contained within it is hugely practical. I appreciate that the book is about being a goddess, however I challenge anyone to put into practise the advice given and suggestions for places to shop / stay etc. when you don't live in London / New York / Paris or have the funds and means to get there. Would be nice to see a more practical, country-wide version, or a separate Scottish one, after all, I've yet to see Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutin for sale in Dundee.......... Makes a lovely and interesting read though.
Okay, but nothing you haven't seen 100 times before December 28, 2007 Lisa Astin (London) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having read all the great reviews I was expecting something spectacular but in fact it's just a long list of things the author feels you should spend money on (beauty treatments, cosmetic surgery, wallpaper, pillows, shoes etc etc etc). The book is beautifully presented and the author is likable enough but there are already plenty of womens magazines and Sunday newspaper supplements with exactly the same info. My advice: spend the money on a nice facial and instead read the magazines in the salon's waiting room.
Splice a womans book of beauty with Vogue magazine and a bit of the Wisewomans guide to sex seduction and true love! December 25, 2007 Mrs. Ella Brown I have just recieved the book The Goddess Guide and i cant stop looking in it. like one of those old books full of cures spells and fortunes this show us the secrets to fashion ,good sex and what in vogue fron the creative heart of one's self! I want to buy this and gift it to every gal i know! Excellent, enchanting and vintage chic!
My thoughts---PHAT Goddess December 25, 2007 PHAT Goddess (California, USA) I received this book as a gift for X-mas and being a "true" Goddess I am NOT easy to buy for, but I have to say that I LOVED this book! This was the BEST present that I got-- loved it more than the expensive designer bag I received. It's fun, sexy and creative. I have not put it down since I got it. I especially love the tips on skin care and beauty as well as the travel section. The best thing about this book is that it has somenthing in it for everyone and tips apply to GODDESSES of all ages. Gisele ROCKS! I look forward to her next GODDESS book.
