Great reference book for things to do with toddlers February 7, 2008 Plumbline (UK) Although this book might hold lots of things 'you could have thought of yourself', you don't always have the time or energy to get that grey matter working again when you have one or more little ones. This is therefore a great book you can just pick up and find an idea.If you need anything to 'play the game' you will more than not already have it in your home. Ideas incorporate rainy play indoors as well as ideas outdoors and includes creative stuff as well as physical play. Also, it has some great recipes for doughs etc.
Some Really Great Ideas November 29, 2007 flutterbybaby 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've really enjoyed this book. Granted, a lot of the ideas are really simple and you could probably have come up with them yourself, but actually I think that's what makes it so good, a lot of the projects can be made from things you already have in the house and are uncomplicated. I can dip in when I need a quick idea for something to do on a rainy day. I have found though that because the author is American it does mention brands and supplies that I don't know, which can be frustrating. And, I would have liked some more pictures (some projects do have pictures, but not many and not very detailed) just to help me a long on some of the projects, but in general it's good value, and a lot of fun. I would recommend it to mum's who are in need of some inspiration. In fact, I've enjoyed it so much I'm going to buy one for my friend.
A useful reference book August 10, 2007 S. Lancashire (Scarborough, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I wasn't born with an innate ability to entertain toddlers (even tho I have a Fine Art Degree!)So I found this book very useful. Its true that all 365 activities aren't exactly mind blowing but there are some real gems & the others can be easily adapted to suit you & your child. My daughter is very active & easily bored & frustrated & I found this book to be a great springboard, using Trish Kuffner's ideas as inspiration to create our own special type of fun. I enjoyed the Americanism of the book as, for example, it lists & explains some holidays we don't have in the UK. For anyone lost in toddler tantrums & frustrations, if you only take one piece of advice from this book, let it be this... (try to)"relish the toddler years, because like the fingerprints on the wall, they will be gone before you know it."
Not suitable for kids nor useful for anyone with a bit of imagination themselves February 14, 2007 N. Baker (UK) 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
Again, oh per-lease. I found this book to be a real disappointment and felt like I had purchased something based on the title and description and then found out it didn't "do what it said on the tin". Anyone with a bit of imagination could come up with these ideas if they are not doing this sort of things already. Better ideas can be found elsewhere. A word of warning though, I got this book because my 18 month old son is one of those active and busy 18 month olds however quite a few of the activities required use of equipment not suitable for his use. Even if you do find this book useful it might be best to wait until they're able to use scissors etc.
i know we're tired, but come on... July 15, 2006 D. Sunshine (Brighton, UK.) 13 out of 19 found this review helpful
I was VERY disappointed with this book. There were very few ideas here that i didnt already do with my child during our day. Try something else!
