Insight into the mental and emotional causes of illness November 18, 2004 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book is beautifully written. This amazing book explored the link between illness and emotional trauma. Many cases were examined where patients suffered an emotional crisis and had either 'not been well since' or had developed a very serious illness linked to this trauma. Cancer, according to the author, was one of those diseases that could be caused by emotional trauma and exacerbated by ignoring the message of the body to resolve the issue and release the pain. The amazing recoveries made possible with homeopathy and the emotional growth and healing of the patients were quite incredible. I found the case with the child of divorced parents who later developed cancer very moving and entirely plausible. Having blamed himself for the pain and unhappiness the family experienced, a part of him hated himself and wanted to die. The destructive and intense nature of this feeling led to him eating himself inside out. The cancer was a direct reflection of his needless guilt. Being a child, he needed to be reassured that the divorce was not his fault and that he had the love of both parents and the security of a different kind of family. The author demonstrates that our emotions are not just felt in the brain or mind. The whole body experiences the full gamut of emotions. And the systems are not separate. A very interesting read that will ring true for many people.
A good introduction to homeopathy August 10, 2004 Atheana (United Kingdom) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you're like me and know (knew) nothing about homeopathy, but want to find out more, than this book will shed a whole new light on the subject. It's interesting. It's 'different'. It's unique. As with any alternative treatment, you need to keep an open mind and be willing to explore new ideas. If you do that, then I'm sure you will enjoy the book.
