I had bought some of Linda Gassenheimers Low Carb books before so I knew what to expect. This book didn't disappoint in anyway being a combination of two of her earlier books - a sort of best of series! The book is split into 3 main sections with each section building carbs up gradually from 35 to 135 gms of good carbs per day over several weeks.
I am a man - do not hold this against me. If I can cook following the instructions in this book then anyone can. Some of the food is the most delicious healthy food I have ever eaten.
I am also English and there has only been 1 thing so far I haven't been able to find in my local supermarket so I substituted no problem.
Most of the evening meals dont take long to prepare and I can be sitting down to eat normally within 25 minutes or less of starting. Sometimes things are a lot quicker.
The lunches are even quicker. most taking just a few minutes except the minestone soup which although lovely took a while to prepare.
I particularly like the layout of the book as it makes shopping easy and also when you come to cook there is a list telling simple people like me what order to do it in. It really is that easy and makes cooking fun.
If I were to open a restaurant then I would have no hesitation to having many of the meals I have tried in this book on my menu.
As with any cook book you need to be organised in making sure you have the ingredients and plan your meals in advance but this book makes this simple as the meal plans are all timetabled throughout the week and you can blindly follow them.
The only downside is the breakfasts are a bit unrealistic for working people (can you stomach salmon for breakfast?). I normally have scrambled egg or omlette and maintain the principles of the programme. Everything else is very achievable.
Furthermore I lost over 3 stone in 6 months eating like a king.
