This is a fantastic book for anyone suffering from a thyroid disorder.I found this book excellent in that it helps you understand and it tells you a lot more than your Dr probably will.I would highly recommended this book.
a useful book but not a helpful reference May 9, 2003 sapphire (london) 16 out of 19 found this review helpful
I would have preferred to have a book that gave greater detail of exactly how the chemical processes in the brain worked and were affected - with more diagrams. I found that all the case histories grew a little tiresome, and if I want to re-read the book to check information then they make it very confusing as it becomes difficult to find the facts squirreled away between seemingly endless personal accounts.

If you have, or suspect you have, a thyroid problem then BUY THIS BOOK!! I was diagnosed 12 months ago but felt like I was just treading water. I bought this book after reading other Amazon reviews - and I'm glad I did. There is a chapter entitled 'No you're not making it up', which kind of sums up everything for me. The whole book reassures, educates and warns you about what to expect. Some parts are a little scary and could turn you into a hypochondriac - but on the whole I feel better informed and am ready for a clash with my GP. I wish this guy was based in the UK because I'd book myself an appointment with him tomorrow!!
A must read for all thyroid suffers - your not alone! March 12, 2002 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
At last a book that made me feel I was not going around the bend! A must have for every thyroid suffer as it helps explain why we feel like we do and how we can learn to cope with the problems that are caused by the Thyroid. I found it very easy to read and gave me a clearer understanding of the function of the thyroid. This book made me realise that I was not alone with my problems.
