3 out of 5 stars Common sense, but...   July 11, 2008
Kaz (London)
This book begins very well, with the intelligent observation that we "choose to be in love", and moves through various concepts with a wealth of well-observed common sense. Where it fell down most abruptly was with reference to what comes after kissing, becoming coy and indirect and concluding that anything further must wait until marriage, because "of course you want to get married!" and that any relationship outside of marriage is doomed... At this point, I immediately turned to look at the religious credentials of the authors, and was unfortunately not disappointed.

I also feel that it was all very well coming up with tactics which could be grouped together under the "keep 'em mean, keep 'em keen" variety, but there wasn't any advice on when to capitulate and become truly honest.

Skimmed the top of a fascinating subject but lacked depth.

2 out of 5 stars Why so many of you give this book 5 star??   June 5, 2008
L. Jia (japan)
I read many of the reviews on amazon and was very looking forward to reading it. However as I started reading the book I became really disapponited. All of the contents are so common sense. It is not helpful to me at all! I hope there is really a book out there can tell us how to win the heart of the ones we love!

3 out of 5 stars All common sense stuff   April 20, 2008

I dont feel as bowled over by this book as the other reviewers. To me, most of the tactics contained within the book were common sense, and nothing that I hadnt read before to be honest. I started to lose faith at the latter sections where it seems to conclude that to 'treat em mean keep em keen' is the way to go. That was under the guise of 'Shaking their confidence'. I just cannot understand that the author thinks its okay to give someone the silent treatment if you dont like the way they are treating you?!! Why not just tell them! Giving someone the silent treatment, as far as im concerned, is downright childish and I dont think it has any place in adult relationships. But then thats just my opinion. The whole thing just seemed like playing a game. Love is not a game - just use your common sense.

5 out of 5 stars Life Changing   April 18, 2008
Teddy Bear (Cambridge)
This book totally changed my life in the space of 8 weeks. When I picked it up, I was on the verge of giving up on a guy I liked for several months. However, this book persuaded me to really go out there and try to get him. I think it is best for motivating you into action. The advice in it are very good but I find you have to do a lot of thinking for yourself to create the perfect tactics for your guy/girl.
The book is very friendly and practical. Those of you afraid of potty, spiritual talks-- this books doesn't do that. Sometimes, it can be a little cheesy but that makes it a fun and light read.
The book is very pro-passive tactics, i.e. being that reliable shoulder to lean on. I think especially when your romantic intentions have become obvious, you will need to switch on to more forward and adventurous tactics. The book suggests trying to kindle 'passion' but it really doesn't tell you how. It's a excellent book to start off with but if your relationship is starting to go 'serious,' I suggest supplementing this with something more daring.
As for me, I'm back on Amazon looking for that next book to read!

5 out of 5 stars The most useful relationship book you will ever read   March 29, 2008

I read this book in one sitting and it is absolutely FANTASTIC. Every single thing it said not to do, I had done in every single relationship, hence it always falling flat on its face. I had made all these mistakes with someone very recently who stopped talking to me, but got back in contact again and thanks to all of the wonderful pointers, I know exactly what to do now.

This book is written in a lovely, warm modern manner and simply unputdownable and I really think it has changed my outlook completely on relationships and my mistakes will never again be repeated. A complete godsend! BUY IT
