Although this is the forth Night Warriors story, it is a standalone entry. There is quality build-up to the main events (extra doses of terror if you are a parent), with decent character development (although somewhat stereotypical at times) and the evil that needs thwarting is, in usual Masterton style, rather evil indeed. He is clearly having fun with the new batch of Night Warriors and the fresh horrors which are, rather originally, twofold. Where Night Wars loses traction and engagement is that it attempts to be science-fiction and modern horror. Amongst the surreal dreamscape, the ultra-high tech weaponry and the abject horror it's easy to lose pace since neither genre is fulfilled. Expect a horror book and be disappointed, although the 'villains' are wonderfully described. Expect a Night Warriors book and enjoy the show!

Like a lot of my fellow reviewers, i eagerly awaited the 4th in the Night Warriors series. i have to admit i loved the trilogy but alas number 4 doesn't quite hit the mark. Like someone said before, the characters don't have the same connection with the reader. When one of the warriors died I thought so what? The two baddies started off as being evil but they kind of fizzled out towards the end. And the baby theme got a bit repetitive.
For me the ending just wasn't up to Masterton's usual standard. I would love to read more Night Warrior books but not if they are as diluted and disappointing as this.
Come on Masterton - show your fans you can still write a decent horror novel!

I am a massive Graham Masterton fan, and have religiously collected his books.I was really looking forward to this, the fourth in the Night Warriors series.I would really recommend reading them in order if you can - they are, Night Warriors,Death Dream and Night Plague.
There has been a big gap since the last book so i was really excited to get this book.
I didn't really enjoy this as much as the others in the series.I thought the idea of the story was good, but it didn't really go anywhere.I had less sympathy for the characters than in the other books.The pacing was slightly off too, and i thought there weren't enough cliff hangers at the end of each chapters to keep me reading on.
Maybe i am being overly harsh, but that is mainly because the first 2 in the series are amazing books.The plots are snappier.I felt more for the characters as well.
When i put this book down i was disappointed, and i am not sure how Graham Masterton can resurrect this series from here.
If you are a Night Warrior fan you will want this book in you collection.If you are a Graham Masterton fan then you will want this in your collection. BUT this is not up to the standard of his best books in my opinion, and it doesn't help the genre of horror in my opinion.Horror is suffering from a lack of depth in authors, and when decidely average books like this are out there i can see why.
I apologise to you all - i really wanted to like this book and write a rave review, but i can't!

This book is Fantastic!! I have waited years for a new Night Warriors book and coud'nt wait to read it. I was not disapointed. This book Rocks!! I love these books and have been a fan for years, this has got to be Graham Masterton's best series of books. The characters are so real and vivid, the villans are always really evil, he does'nt pull the punches. They are not some poor sad soul with some issues, but are kick ass EVIL!! The hero's are very human, with human flaws and fears, but they step up and do what a Night Warrior's gotta do.
This book was GREAT!!
Read it and read it NOW!! You won't be disapointed.
I want to be a Night Warrior and when you read this book so will you!

The long awaited fourth novel in the Night Warriors Chronicles and it was worth the wait but having read it I have to hope that Masterton will write another! The Night Warriors are called upon to do battle in our dreams yet again and we are introduced to a further group of the Champions Of Our Dreams who take on not one but two evil entities who are seeking to destroy the waking world. The Night Wars of the title are fierce and bloody but can our heroes defeat the powers of evil, in the name of Ashapola and all that is good? Masterton has delivered yet another stunning entry in the Night Warriors saga and I can only hope he is considering another book to continue this phenomenal series. From the original "Night Warriors" I have envisaged the idea these epics could be fantastic film material, here's hoping one day a film studio also sees the same potential. Here's to the next novel in the meantime.
