Classic Stuff September 17, 2003 I first came across Dave Barry's work on the internet, you've probably seen it too, but maybe didn't realise it. His great comedy anecdotes are each only 2 or 3 pages long, but in that time he succeeds in looking at the everyday and mundane things in life from a zany new angle. Seldom does the reader see the punchline before getitng to the end of the story, but even if you do, each one still leaves you feeling thoughtful, and will sit away in the back of your mind, to be recalled at some later date, when you are least expecting it.The best comparison I could make is with Doglas Adams, for his wry observations on life. A great read, and the ideal book for sitting through in the smallest room of the house, for hours on end!
Dave Barry is the funniest person to put pen to paper October 10, 1998 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book will have you on the floor rolling. My favorite was about that flu where the air molecules attack you, and the act of brushing your teeth can cause you to need to sleep, and the dog tries to lick your ears off. Been there, done that. Everyone should have to read this book. DAVE BARRY IS THE FUNNIEST MAN EVER PUT ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. (that writes books, because Mel Brooks is funny too, but Dave Barry doesn't need to crude to be funny)
A great laugh in store August 29, 1998 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Barry's observations are the funniest I have ever read. These selections were first published in the Miami Herald. I usually don't laugh out loud when I read, but this had me howling. All the articles are short and sweet. I was also impressed that he could write about the death of his father in a humorous, yet touching way. Truly a gifted humorist.
Not his very best, but his usual hilarity and charm. January 31, 1996 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am a huge fan of Dave Barry. He is the funniest columnist, possibly man, on earth!! This book is kind of short, but it still packs quite a punch. A MUST BUY!
