5 out of 5 stars Crystal   August 11, 2008
summer strawberry (england)
Crystal is the second novel from Katie Price and is a very good effort.

This was the first book I read from Katie and I was pleasantly surprised.
Crystal, best friend Tahlia, and spoilt wannabe Belle are in girl group, Lost Angels. They decide to try out for new 'X Factor'-style TV show 'Band Ambition'. They become very successful and overnight are turned into the hottest girl group around.

However, it's not all smooth sailing in the limelight.
All three girls face trouble with the press, and unfortunately, Crystal suffers the worst...
Crystal falls for the charms of bad boy, Max, who happens to be Belle's boyfriend. Max seems perfect at first but soon his true colours show and he makes Crystal's like misery...
Crystal soon learns that life mingling with the rich and famous is not how it all cracked up to be and her 15 minutes of fame soon begin to crumble... but there's always a happy ending, isn't there?

I thoroughly enjoyed Crystal. It was full of surprises and I never put it down! Katie shows a real insight on life as an A-lister and it's downfall's.
I really warmed to Crystal and her emotions were shown all the way through.

For anyone who has never read a book from Katie, I would recommend starting here.
Full of gossip, love, sex and betrayl, this is THE perfect summer read.

As Katie has released a sequel to debut novel, Angel, I really hope she provides us with a sequel to Crystal.
I'm counting down the days!

Overall, an excellent, juicy novel.

4 out of 5 stars A good girly read   July 22, 2008

It's a good girly read-and just the sort of sexy novel you'd expect from Katie Price!!

5 out of 5 stars Not as bad as you might first think...   July 7, 2008
Little Miss Star*x (United Kingdom)
I was very optimistic about the second book from Katie Price as Angel had been very much about sex etc but this surprised me in that it didn't focus on that side of things, it's a really nice story with lots of twists that you don't expect and i read this on my summer holiday last year so would recommend it as a summer read! Don't tarnish Katie with the same tainted brush as the media, this story wasn't just about Crystal trying to be a pop star it was much more!

1 out of 5 stars Oh Jeez...   May 24, 2008

I was surprised to be told that Katie Price was apparently actually a good writer, and I immediately went down to the local librarly and rented the book out.
I was lied to.

To be honest, the writing itself isn't terrible. Her style gives the reader a lot of drama very fast, and I can see why some people would enjoy this. But personally, I require some realistic description as well, and I found the lead character's stupidity frustrating. The story was overly optimistic and very far fetched.

But; then again, if you want a simplistic read with no real depth, maybe this book would do.
