Saccharine romance December 26, 2007 F. Newington (UK) If you like contrived sentimental love stories you will be happy with this book. The ending is liberally furnished with loose ends so you will then be able to buy the next in the series.
Unbelievable February 10, 2007 Jenna (Greater Manchester) Having read several Josephine Cox novels in the past and enjoyed most if not all of them I was looking forward to settling down with "The Journey." The style of writing is good as always, hence the 2 stars, butI found the plot totally unreal and unbelievable. This is a very talented author but this story I found irritatingly disappointing.
Believable?? July 12, 2006 R McG (Scotland) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This was the first Josephine Cox book I have read. I read through it VERY quicky. I liked her style of writing, the characters were lovable, I found the book very intriguing from the very first page, but I do have to admit I found the plot somewhat far fetched. Why would Barney not go to America, set his family up for a better future, and die happy knowing their lives had improved and they would survive when he left them. I thought there would be some deeper, dark secret. Having said all that, I will be now moving straight onto the follow-up 'Journeys End' to find out what happened to the other characters :-)
Spellbinding read January 4, 2006 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Having read an excerpt from this novel as a short story in Woman’s Weekly last year and been looking forward to the paperback coming out ever since. I was not disappointed as spell binding read from start to finish. The way the book spans the decades to bring this realistic story alive is brilliant. I didn’t want to put this book down, really looking forward to the Sequel.
Fantastic book November 18, 2005 Carole Halpin (UK) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
I have just read The Journey by Josephine Cox. I never wanted this book to end, I was gripped by it and I can't wait for the next book called Journey's End to come out in February.
