1 out of 5 stars Let down!!   August 22, 2008

This book has no strong plot, the characters are under developed and the last few chapters are very strange.
Furthermore, if you want to experience the symptoms of clinical depression, read this book! A total utter waste of time...it certainly doesnt deserve a second chance!

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as I'd hoped   August 16, 2008

I was given this book as a birthday present and was really looking forward to reading it after having enjoyed previous Jane Green novels and generally being a fan of easy to read 'chick-lit' but I was left a bit disappointed.
I found myself not really caring about what happened to any of the characters - except Paul and Anna who I liked.
Like other reviewers, I thought that the idea of old friends getting back in touch was a good one but so much more could have been done. In the end I just skip-read it really quickly to get it finished.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST READ FOR ANY CHICK LIT FAN!!!   August 8, 2008

Well I must say after reading all the other reviews for this i am dissapointed! in the so called jane green fans not the book!! I thought this was brilliant as all her books are! The story was believable the charactors likeable and the fact it was not based on just 2 main charactors as most books are made it even better! I read this book from start to finish over one weekend as I literally could not put it down!

please do not listen to the other reviews and give it a chance its an amazing read!!!

1 out of 5 stars A depressing drag   July 30, 2008

This book was a real drag to get through. It took ages to "take off" and when it did, it only seemed to last for a few pages. The funeral/mourning storyline took up almost half of the book. Yes, these things happen, but why depress the reader by going on and on and on about it. The characters were unoriginal and outright boring, the ending predictable. No feel good factor there when getting to the last page, except perhaps relief that it's over.

3 out of 5 stars Doesnt deserve such a harsh critique!   July 25, 2008
Katherined0 (Sydney, Australia)
This book has had a hard time in here but to my mind it was an easy read and very enjoyable. however, I felt the characters were caricatures (bored housewife/dizzy actress) rather than real people you could relate too. I also felt the ending was a bit rushed -- there was room to explore some of the issues further and to me it smacked of pressure of deadlines rather than a crafted piece of work. That said, it's Jane Green -- a relaxing romp through the lives of the characters and the havoc created through a meeting many years down the line. I liked it!
