Customer Reviews:
A fantastic intro to the German language. March 15, 2007 M. Gledhill (Bristol, UK) I have just started learning German, and, in between listening to the excellent Michel Thomas 8-CD course, I've also bought this book. It really is excellent. Most of the book is in colour, and shows photos of things you'll see around Germany, together with what the phrases mean in English, and how to pronounce them. There is also a useful set of travel phrases, how to read a menu, an English-German and German-English set of vocab. It's not exhaustively thorough, but it's more than enough to get you going. My one regret is buying this without the optional CD pack which it mentions (I can't find it in the UK..) as it would have been nice to have heard a native speaker saying these phrases. But, this aside, it's one of the best intro books I've seen. Well worth the money. But get Michel Thomas' course aswell...!
