I wish I were one more guest at the Weller Regent Hotel August 19, 2007 Towanda (Europe) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just This Once is a charmed love story of two women that meet in a space/time where their hearts are desesperately seeking for illusion and spark. The author tells us about who they are, what do they think and how do they face their different job's tasks. They're today's women that love their jobs and look for new achievements. They're strong, take important decisions professionally and can be funny and lovable. MacGregor writes well and describes characters in such a way that make you wish to be another guest at the Weller Regent Hotel in Orlando and witness what's cooking there. Just This Once happens to be the first novel that American Writer K.G. MacGregor has got published by Bella Books and amazingly it only was last year (September 2006) Since then, K. G. `s actual publishers have released four more titles and a fith one is on the way (September 2007)
A quality read April 3, 2007 Alex Lequesne (London, England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Quite simply, MacGregor is a good writer. She has a genuine gift of weaving an engaging and nicely-structured tale in which the actions and motivations of her principle protagonists are credible and understandable. She doesn't shy away from giving them normal humam flaws or try to cast them as paragons or, even worse, the stereotypes on which too many lesbian writers rely. This is a well-developed story with a completely unexpected plot-twist which derails what is apparently heading for an early civil partnership. Dialogue is tight, natural and often witty. Yes, of course we always know that love will eventually conquer all but the two women have to suffer torments before they get there, making the denouement very satisfying. An enjoyable, fun read
First time author makes her debut with this stunning read August 13, 2006 Lorraine 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
Wynne Connelly is marketing manager for a major travel organization and her job requires that she attend meetings twice monthly at the company's Orlando headquarters. Paula McKenzie is second-in-command on the night shift at the Weller Regent - an upscale hotel in Orlando. The same upscale hotel that Wynne Connelly stays in whenever she's in Orlando. Paula finds herself intrigued by the twice-monthly guest, who possesses an aura of mystery and elegant beauty. When things grow hectic one night at the front desk, Paula emerges to lend a hand - just in time to greet Wynne at check-in. Their exchange borders on mild flirtatation and both women come away feeling sparks. Soon they begin spending time together and share more than just a kiss. And while Paula is elated at the prospect of the budding romance, Wynne is alarmed at her loss of self-control. Ever mindful of the obligations back home that she must honor, she struggles to resist Paula's fascination and allure...
