I bought this book thinking it would show me ways of being more positive in my relationships, stop being so jealous and start feeling better about myself. I was disappointed. Too much waffle, not enough substance. It does, however, show you how a child with a sensitive soul can grow up to be insecure, and highlights the affecting factors. It includes lengthy 'case studies' and follows with even lengthier analysis. There is a tick-chart near the beginning, so you can see just how sensitive you might be.
It also discussed 'tough hearted' people, and ways to either avoid them or tolerate them in your life.
There was only one very short chapter (the penultimate) that actually gave a few pointers to recovery. Not exactly material for "conquering" insecurity, as the sub-title promises.
Even though by reading this book, I did gain some insight into myself, I am no further on in terms of my insecurity, and am still hurting.
I know Lynda Field writes good books on building self esteem, try hers instead. And if you know of any others, please email me and let me know.
As for buying this book, I wouldn't bother if your looking for healing. However, if things are hurting you intensely and you don't know why, this book could provide answers and show you pathways to finding inner peace.
